2021.
She was 73.
Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Sue was one of five daughters born to John Gosin and Amy Lou
Redfield. From an early age, Sue loved being active, particularly outdoors. She was a sailor,
windsurfer, skier, swimmer, ran marathons, and played tennis. Then golf became her passion when
she moved to Florida from Chicago. She was an active member of Shadow Wood Country Club and
made many friends through golf. She played three times each week and logged countless hours on
the range, always trying to get just a bit better. The plaques she received for her two holes-in-one
are displayed in a place of honor in her home.
Sue also enjoyed traveling and, though she enjoyed trips to Asia and Europe, Cape Cod may have
been her favorite destination. Cotuit became her second home after a first visit in 2008. She
painted watercolors there, gardened with gusto, and enjoyed the friendship of dear neighbors.
Recently, she cruised both the Danube and Rhine Rivers with her husband and best friend, Gene
Veto, whom she married in 1990.
Sue supported the communities she lived in with the same energy she gave to everything in her
life. She volunteered for many years for Friends of the Salvation Army in Bonita Springs and served
as its President. In Chicago, she mentored kids from the Henry Horner Homes. Sue retired to
Florida after a career in marketing and real estate, most recently for Harrison Conference Services
(Tarrytown, NY) and John R. Wood Real Estate (Naples, FL). She was a graduate of Colorado State
University with a degree in psychology and the University of Denver, earning an M.B.A. degree.
Sue was a beloved wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. She will be sorely
missed by her loving husband, Gene Veto (Bonita Springs, FL); stepchildren Liza Veto (Boston, MA)
and Reid and Julie Veto (Brooklyn, NY); grandchildren Adrian and Cecily Veto (Brooklyn, NY);
sisters Amy Gosin (Aspen, CO), Barbara Lynch (Madison, CT), Patti Keyser (Louisville , CO), and
Peggy Martin (Lafayette, CO); sister- and brother-in-law Donna and Karl Schulz (Naples, FL); and
nephews and nieces Trent Lynch (Weston, MA), Chad Lynch (Madison, CT), Lauren (Lynch)
Fernandez (New York, NY), Sam Martin (Chicago, IL), Cathy Cooper (Dallas, TX), and Laurie
Cleveland (Huntersville, NC).
No services are planned at this time. Donations may be made in Sue’s memory to Cafe of Life or
Bonita Springs Assistance Office, both in Bonita Springs, Florida.
