I know Suzanne as Aunt Sue. She’s one of the many best aunts I’ve ever know. I remember going to Florida every couple summers with my nana and pepere and we would stay with her and uncle Robert at their house in Florida. It was always fun going there and spending time with them because we didn’t get to see them much because of the long distance. In the late summer of 2021 I was fortunate enough to get to go see Aunt Sue at her condo in Colorado. It was so much fun hanging out there, going on hikes, rides, etc. Aunt Sue was a wonderful tour guide and was up for anything. She didn’t let the cancer stop her from going on hikes or going around town with me and my grandparents. I wish I got to know her a bit more when I got older because she seemed like such a loving person with everything she has done for her community and family. May she Rest In Peace and have fun golfing in heaven. 

My amazing, loving Godmother… you are so terribly missed. I pray for peace for your family and friends, may they remember the incredible mark you made on the world. We were all so lucky to know and love you. 

Suzanne -  Michael and I miss you and loved you dearly! You were our favorite sister-in-law and friend!  We shared a love of family, friends, Florida State University, and golf!  We also enjoyed playing in golf tournaments in Naples and The Villages as well as travels to the cities of San Antonio, Breckenridge, and Littleton for vacations with you and Robert. 
Suzanne you were also mother to our two wonderful, amazing nephews - Ryan and Shawn; a much-loved teacher of children with special needs leading to a partnership with the Special Olympics program and other charitable endeavors in your community.  You always had a ready smile and infectious sense of humor for all of us!
You are sorely missed by family and your many friends!  We love you and hope to see you again in the next life!  Rest in peace Suzanne!


How to describe Suzanne Alice Morris. Loving wife, mother, sister-in-law, and friend. She was more worried about me having surgery in November than her condition. A very unselfish person and loving human being. I will never stop loving Suzanne and will deeply miss her. Truly a gift to everyone who knew her. 

My sweet Sue,
I am so grateful that our Lord placed you in my life.  You were truly the best of friends, not just to me, but to everyone you encountered.  I am so glad that we were able to share 40+ years together.  You have always been a part of my life and I am blessed to have traveled through it with you as my friend.  
Through the years, you were always there for me.  We experienced so many of life’s phases together.  Meeting at Lake Weir High School at 15, our graduation, college graduations, birthdays, and celebrations.  Then your wedding, and mine – two weeks later! 
Then your Ryan’s birth, and my Taylor’s birth two months later.  You made the best Godmother. Then came your Shawn and my Zach.  You always made every occasion special.  Zach is forever grateful that you took him to see his beloved Broncos while visiting with you in Colorado.  I remember our visits to Disney World, meetings in the Villages, visiting you in Naples, your visits to Ocala, our high school reunions (10 years and 40 years!), traveling to Orcas Island and Canada with you, and so, so many more memories I will cherish forever.  I miss you like crazy, and I will honor you and celebrate your beautiful life for the remainder of mine.  Until we see each other again Sue-Z-Que, all my love, JD (Janine).


I just spent some moments re-reading the loving memories and condolences that so many have shared.  The sentiments truly touch my heart.  Suzanne was my sister. There are no words to express how much I miss her. To Robert, Shawn, and Ryan I send so much love. Rest In Peace, my beautiful Sister. ❤️

Suzanne, Dina and I appreciated your love and your friendship. Living next door to you,  for so many years and sharing so many occasions, we came to know you well. You’re  were an amazing mom and wife, and an amazing, caring and loving 2nd mom to my sons.  I can’t even express how much your friendship meant to me when I was single and our boys were scouting and schooling together.  

As time went on, Dina and I shared our appreciation for your love and friendship. You will be missed tremendously and we will always, always remember you and stay connected to Robert, Ryan and Shawn. We are family. 

Friends come into our lives, and friends leave our lives, but good friends never leave our hearts!


FAMILY TIES

I have memories of Suzanne that date back to childhood when visiting the “American branch” of our family in Lowell Massachusetts on our mother’s side (The Lachance sisters and brothers). As shown in the first more recent picture, there are quite a few cousins linked to this lineage (most missing here). A group of us were born in the year 1960. It is my case, as well as Suzanne’s. Because of that, intuitively, I always felt a special link to Suzanne whenever we went to Lowell. At that time, not much was said or shared, for I could not speak or understand a word of English!

Long story short, in a more recent past, I had the pleasure to see Suzanne a little more often, i.e. more than once every five or ten years! Whether it was when she visited the Lachance family in Québec City or more recently in Florida. Brigitte (my wife) and I had the pleasure to have Suzanne and Robert visit and stay over at our condo on the East Coast (Lauderhill). We went to see a hockey game at the BB&T Center: Florida Panthers vs Colorado Avalanche, of course :). As shown in the second picture, we had a fun time (lots of smiling). On that occasion, Brigitte and I enjoyed getting to know Robert a little better.

I called Suzan a month ago when we were back in Florida for a short stay at the condo. I did not realize then that she would pass away so rapidly. I will remember Suzan as being a vibrant and determined person, who cared and who gave the joy of being. In the words of Paul Claudel: “Il y a des yeux qui reçoivent la lumière et il y a des yeux qui la donnent. » (There are eyes that receive light and there are eyes that give it) Suzan gave a light that will shine in my memory for years to come.

Adieu chère cousine!

This is Sue's brother Paul. She liked us to call her Sue. I've been reading everyone's warm thoughts and beautiful memories of my sister.  It's so wonderful to read what I already know to be true. I'm sure I can speak on behalf of my family when I say thank you for all your special words. I have so many memories of my sister, too numerous to count. However, I'd like to share the last time Carol, Hailey, and I got to spend time with Sue and Robert. She was in her happy place in Colorado this past summer where we were able to visit. Sue and Robert were the perfect tour guides. They guided us through Rocky Mountain National Park. Sue wasn't feeling well at that time, but she wanted to be sure we left there with great memories. Sue is now in heaven with our Dad, who we had lost at a very young age. Robert, Ryan, and Shawn...Stay strong!

Suzanne was one of the most loving and accepting people I have ever met.  I knew her WAY back at the beginning of our teaching careers but it wasn't until our paths crossed again, many years later, that I really came to understand just how extraordinary she was.  Most special education teachers are good at accepting the difference our students bring to us when they enter our classrooms and Suzanne certainly did this but what REALLY made the difference was that she did the same for EVERYONE.  You didn't need to be a special needs student or even a student at all to be given grace.  I learned so much from her, not only about how to be a better teacher, but about how to be a better person.  She will be forever missed.

We should all live the way Suzanne did. She never wavered in her love and support for her family and friends, and she found humor, or at least a reason to smile, everywhere. I'm so fortunate that she was one of my son's teachers who became a forever friend. I will always miss her, but I'll also smile every time I think of her!

Suzanne was so very kind and caring.  I will miss her.  She opened her heart to so many throughout her life.  I am happy to have known her and Robert as good friends.  Robert, you have always been there for her.  Please know that I and others are here to help you in any way we can.

My heart goes out to everyone, so many will feel this loss. Suzanne was so very kind, one of the best teachers I have ever known, plus she had the greatest sense of humor.  She spoke warmly of her family and I always loved that about her.  When my husband was struggling with cancer she always found time to stop by the classroom and give a hug and a word of encouragement and she always said the right thing.  Even in the hardest of times she made me laugh and I knew I could always count on her for support and hugs. That is such a gift.  I haven't seen her since I moved from Naples but her kindness left an imprint on my heart forever. I am so heartbroken. Heaven is a better place with her in it , Rest easy Suzanne.  


Auntie Susie was a positive, kind and loving person!  I have the best memories of when Auntie Susie, Uncle Robert, Ryan and Shawn would visit!  I actually can remember one of the first times the boys saw snow when they were here!  Her love for ice cream, her family, her friends and life will never be forgotten.  She will continue to live in the hearts of all who love her, especially Ryan and Shawn. Love you guys, and sending the biggest hugs. 

I was so sorry to learn of Suzanne’s passing.  Damn. 
We worked on and off together for a number of years and I always enjoyed Suzanne’s company and conversation. In particular her dry wit and sense of humor. ..always funny. I learned about her love for golf, poker and her family  throughout the years.  Suzanne was a great human being and the world will indeed miss her . It’s wonderful that she touched so many lives during her time with us…we will all honor her life  in the memories we hold and share. 


I’m so sorry for your loss! She taught me in high school and was the best teacher I ever had. She was an amazing person and I always knew that I was in good hands when being around her. She always made sure that I would understand the material before moving to anything new. My heart is broken. Thinking of you all during this very difficult time. ❤️🙏❤️

Teaching  at Gulf Coast with Suzanne was one of the greatest joys of my career. She brought a smile to everyone’s face each morning with a funny story or word. My favorite was each March 1, she’d arrive and announce, “It’s my birthday month!”  We’d celebrate her all month. Her kindness and compassion as well as her love for her students was amazing. The kids adored her. My heart is broken for Robert and the boys. We will all feel that void left by knowing she’s not with us. A life well lived. May her memory be for a blessing. She’ll be missed. When my youngest child entered Pre-K in Naples, we found out that he had some developmental delays due to a previously undiagnosed issue with his hearing.  Further testing also found that he had ODD and ADHD.

As he went into Kindergarten and Elementary school, we became a bit overwhelmed.  We were dealing with things that were new to us - IEPs, staffing, services, all sorts of testing.  We were told our child would probably never finish school.

Kerry was placed in Suzanne's class.  It was immediately obvious that she genuinely cared about her students.  After a few months of getting to really know our son, she told us, "They are wrong.  Don't let the labels define him.  He is smart.  He can finish school.  He can go to college.  He absolutely can be whatever he wants."   

We later moved and lost touch with Suzanne for several years, but I never forgot what she had said to us.  As Kerry  progressed through school, he caught up from the delays.  We pushed the schools to set higher goals for him, and encouraged him to work up to his potential.

In 2010, we tracked down Suzanne through the Collier County School System, and invited her to his high school graduation.  We really wanted her to be there.  If it had not been for her, we probably would have accepted what we had been told, and our son most likely would not have graduated.  She did remember Kerry, and seemed excited to attend his graduation from Estero High School with us.

After graduation, Suzanne kept in touch with Kerry, and with me, through Facebook.  She expressed pride in the fact that he was working and doing well in life.

Teachers - No, make that people - like Suzanne Morris are a rare gift in life.  We were blessed to have crossed paths with her, as were many others.

I worked with her at Pelican Marsh Elementary my first few years of teaching. I’ll never forget her guidance, kindness and sense of humor! She could make me laugh when I wanted to cry!  Over the years I would see her at trainings and I was always so happy to see her even if only for a few moments. She left an impression on my heart and I’m honored to have known and worked with her. Prayers for strength and peace for all of you!

She was a rock for me when I had my accident in 1976, her brother Paul who I was with when it happened!  She was a true friend!  I remember the last class reunion,  we were so excited to reconnect and see each other!  I will always cherish her and her friendship!  Until we meet again my friend!  Love you!  ❤🙏❤

Suzanne was my mentor at GCHS when I first moved to Naples, FL. in 2001. Bonding over the candy drawer in the planning room, she quickly went from colleague to dear friend in mere days. I later joined her and Robert on a family reunion cruise where she forever became extended family to me. She comforted me through the loss of my own mother, is the godmother to my first born Tate, drove me to the hospital for the unexpected premature birth of my second son Torin (where she wryly suggested to the doctors that they wait a day so he and she could share the same birthday) and was an eternal role model to me for motherhood, wife-life and friend ever since. Some of my fondest memories of her include when she’d oblige my insistence to speak French, times she’d revel in stories proving she was her mother’s favorite child, moments we shared giggling about her apparent allergy to water buffalo, and her retellings of a trip to China where she struggled with hunger too fearful to eat some of the local delicacies.  Suzanne’s love for Robert (affectionately called uncle Bobby when my children were younger) was so apparent- as was her love and pride of her two marvelous sons Ryan and Shawn. I always enjoyed hearing stories of yurts and goats in Washington and how Colorado captured her heart when her youngest son relocated there. Suzanne fiercely shared her love for her own family and mine in the most sincere and genuine ways. I am honored to have been gifted the time I had with her on earth to call her friend. Her absence creates a great void in this world, as she was the most authentic “angel” to ever walk this earth. Stolen from us too soon, she leaves an everlasting imprint on all who knew her - I aspire to live like Suzanne: a servant to mankind, a lover of humans and animals alike, a true friend and an inspiration to all who were blessed to share in her being. 

I’m so sad to learn of Suzanne’s passing. I feel lucky to have taught with her for several years and know the incredible impact she had on our students. What a truly loving, devoted teacher, mother and friend. She always made me smile.

Suzanne looked after both of my children at Gulf Coast; primarily my Kaitlyn. 
As a helicopter Mom Suzanne always accepted my concerns lovingly and with understanding; always advocating for Kaitlyn! 
We’ve known each other for years. Our hearts are heavy tonight. 
Suzanne St Jean Morris, you will never be forgotten as you touched so many lives; young and old. Thank you for advocating for the children; our children. May you rest lovingly in God arms eternally! My prayer tonight is for your family 💔🙏🏻 and peace for all who knew and loved you so very much.
