Wisia was born in Warsaw, Poland, on February 2, 1926, to Marianna and Jan Stala. She spent her childhood in Warsaw and the village of Lipki. She resided in Warsaw during the occupation of Poland in World War II, and she became a courier for the Polish Underground Resistance. After the 1944 Warsaw Uprising (Powstanie Warszawskie), she, with thousands of others, was taken to Germany as a POW. Upon liberation of the Oberlangen POW camp, she enlisted and became a guard of the nazi prisoners. Soon after the war, she met her future husband, Frank Krzyzak, who served in the Polish 1st Panzer Division. They married several months later and moved to England. Some years later, they moved to be with family in Auburn, New York.
After working at Welch Allyn for numerous years, they retired to Naples, Florida. There, they met many new friends at Imperial Wilderness, where they lived out their golden years. Wisia (Vi to her Florida friends) enjoyed playing cards, going on cruises, volunteering for recycling and luncheons, and especially swimming. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending services at the Catholic churches in the Naples area. She has now gone home to be with the Lord.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Krzyzak, and her brothers, Zygmunt Auguscik and Jerzy Stala.
She is survived by her sister Renata Duver and several nieces and nephews (who called her Ciocia), including Rose Duver, Ted (Amy) Duver, Frank (Tina) Duver, Yvonne (Chuck Taylor-Hunt) Auguscik, Robert (Diane) Auguscik, Eva Auguscik, Anna (Winthrop) Telford, and Jola (Pawel) Maslakiewicz. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
