

William (Bill) Eugene Carty, 70, of Cape Coral, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Cape Coral. Bill was born in Burlington, Vermont, to Martin William Carty and Lillian Frances Payea on March 2, 1956. The family moved to Satellite Beach, Florida, when he was 11. He graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1978 and earned his Master of Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology in December of 1981.
Bill married Colleen Marie Mullin on May 22, 1999, in Fairfax County, Virginia. He enjoyed a successful career as an Executive Vice President for Northrop Grumman Technical Services for 27 years, during which he received numerous accolades, including a NASA Achievement Award in July 2003.
A dedicated advocate for the visually impaired, Bill served on the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors for the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB), the Board of Trustees for Leader Dogs for the Blind, and the Board of Directors for National Industries for the Blind (NIB). He was also an active member of the Finance Council at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.
Bill's true passions revolved around the water. Growing up on the east coast of Florida, he developed a profound love for the ocean, engaging in surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and sailing. Music was another of his great loves; he played the drums with unwavering enthusiasm, maintaining a rhythm with his hands and feet until the very end. Baking was a cherished hobby, and he often shared delicious treats with family and friends.
A devout Catholic, Bill's faith remained a cornerstone of his life. He and his family embarked on meaningful pilgrimages abroad, nurturing his love for travel and exploration. Above all, Bill cherished time spent with family, reveling in the joy of being with his children and grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his father Martin William Carty, his mother Lillian Frances Carty, his sister Sally Jane VanBuskirk, his grandson Martin William Argueta, and his father & mother-in-law, Thomas Francis Mullin & Patsy M Mullin. He is survived by his wife Colleen Marie Carty, his children Matthew William Carty (Pamela Terry), Erin Marie Steiner (Brett Steiner), Lauren Elizabeth Carty, and William Eugene Carty Jr.; his sisters Patricia (Patty) Ann Nobes (Richard Nobes) and Mary Frances Shambaugh (Jack Shambaugh); brother-in-law Richard VanBuskirk; sister-in-law Maureen Mullin; and his beloved grandchildren Lorelei Elizabeth Carty Steiner, Logan Matthew Steiner, Lily Jade Steiner, Marilyn Elaine Argueta, and Madalyn Louise Argueta, along with many additional family members.
The family of Bill wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Dubin Center in Fort Myers, Florida, for their invaluable support at the beginning of our journey with Bill’s Alzheimer’s, as well as to the staff of Highpoint Memory Care and the VITAS hospice staff in Cape Coral, FL, who provided exceptional care during Bill's final transition home to our Lord. We also express our heartfelt gratitude to our dear family and friends for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108, US, on March 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991, US, on March 17, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
Burial will take place at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108, US, on March 17, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
A reception will follow at Hodges Funeral Home At Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, Florida 34108, on March 17, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
