

Anna Irene (Lou) Murphy Pabst passed peacefully September 24, 2016 surrounded by her family at the age of 95. Anna was born July 5th, 1921 in Bristol, England to Maurice Rene Murphy and Anna Elizabeth Murphy. Along with her mother, she, her sister and brother came across on the MV Aquatania in 1930 to join their father in his hometown of Slidell, La. From there, they moved to New Orleans and made it their home. In 1942 she married her sweetheart, Charlie, and they adopted two children. Lou was very active at the school her children attended. After many years of volunteering she became the School Librarian of Immaculate Heart of Mary in New Orleans until she retired in 1986. Lou was also an active member of the Greater Pines Village Garden Club where she served as President for a year. Lou was a devout Catholic and after her retirement she volunteered at several convents in the New Orleans area helping to organize their libraries. She was a uniquely special mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew her. We know she is singing and dancing in heaven right now.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Pabst, Sr; siblings Audrey Ackermann, Francis Murphy and Mary McLaughlin. Survived by her children Charles Pabst, Jr. (Emily) and Mary Henry (Michael); grandchildren Alex Pabst, Nicholas Pabst, Stephanie Nash, Eric Humble, Kathryn Morvant and Sean Henry. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
