

Anna Herbert Story was called by her savior to her eternal home on July 2, 2023 at the age of 87. Ann was born in New Orleans on May 7, 1936. She was married to and the wife of the late Edmond Burthe Story Jr. for 61 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Herbert and Mildred Brauner Herbert, her late sister, Mildred H. Ferguson, and her youngest daughter, Sharla Story Pichon. Ann is survived by her brother, Frederick Herbert Jr., and her five other children, Sheila S. Hollander (Mike), Edmond B. Story III (Holli), Stephanie S. Genusa (Tony), Sheryl S. Cefalu (David) and Stephen S. Story.
Anna was the grandmother of 15 grandchildren, J. Michael Hollander III, Melanie Hollander Daigle, Mitchell Hollander, Brooke L. Story, Colin E. Story, Shelby N. Story, David M. Deichmann Jr., Holly D. Naquin, Heidi D. Baughman, Carly R. Cefalu, Marc S. Ingram, Nicole B. Fabre, Blake R. Bonneval, Hunter J. Story, Skylar A. Story; four step-grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anna attended Mater Delorosa Grammar School, McMain High School and graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in the class of 1954. She also attended Tulane night school and Spencer Business College. She was employed by numerous finance companies including Automotive Financial, C.H.F., and W.T.I.X. Radio Station. She was a licensed travel agent for Discovery Travel and Crown Travel for 22 years. Anna was also an avid artist, loved taking pictures and traveling with her husband Edmond, and her family across the U.S. and overseas.
The majority of her life residency was spent in Metairie for 47 years in St. Phillip Neri Parish where she attended church regularly. She then moved to Covington, LA in 2005 and was a parishioner at St. Anselm Church in Madisonville.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caretakers: Cookie Coates, Susan Dougherty, Sonya Badon, Sandra Hernandez, Erica Davis, Michelle Lofton and Yvonne Ellis, and Heart of Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Monday, July 10, 2023. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. until the mass at 1:00 p.m. The interment will be on the same grounds at Metairie Cemetery.
