Anne Ponseti King was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born in New Orleans, La. on April 30, 1930, to the late Annie Bourquin Ponseti and Theodore J. Ponseti and was one of 13 brothers and sisters. On May 7, 1952, Anne married the love of her life Raymond W. King, Sr. and remained so for almost 60 years when Raymond preceded her in death.
Anne followed in her mothers’ footsteps as a devout Catholic and remained strong in her faith through to her passing and was able to participate in praying the rosary while taking her last breath. Anne received immense pleasure from serving as a volunteer in whatever community she resided in to include Eucharistic ministry, St. Tammany Hospital Guild, Knights of Columbus Covington Kaycettes and was later recognized as Family of the Year for their collective contributions. In her later years Anne took immense pleasure from walking while reciting the Lord’s Prayer in addition to remembering all who she believed would benefit from her prayers. After losing her eyesight to macular degeneration, she was unable to keep up her tradition of walking but maintained a pious lifestyle and prayed the rosary multiple times per day.
Anne graduated from Annunciation High School in 1946 and remained in touch with some of her graduating class until her health no longer permitted these cherished friendships. Anne was the proud mother of four sons, Randy (DeeDee), Danny (Denice), Joey (Ellen) and Tommy. Anne was affectionately known as Nana to her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Nana never missed sending love and well wishes on any occasion that called for it. Anne was a long-time Kenner resident prior to moving the North Shore in the 1990’s. She loved the holidays but especially Christmas festivities both at home with family and church where she could hear her favorite Christmas Song O Holy Night. You also knew it was the season when Pete Fountain’s Christmas tunes were playing on the record player!
Anne was fortunate to have a great many friends over the years and was able to spend quality time with them. Travel, gardening, card games, memory games or telling tales from the past were all memorable past times.
