Anthony Joseph Macaluso, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the age of 55 as the result of a recent cancer diagnosis. Anthony will be dearly missed by his Jr. High School sweetheart and loving wife of 32 years, Gabrielle Gennaro Macaluso. Anthony is survived by the children he loved, Anthony Joseph Macaluso III (Rebecca) and Jessica Macaluso O’Connor (Matthew). The precious grandchildren who called him ‘Blah Blah’, McKenzie Marie O’Connor, Grayson Garrett O’Connor, and Madeline Elizabeth Macaluso, will forever remain in his heart. He is also survived by his sister, Edie Macaluso Stapleton (Michael), his half-brother, Michael J. Fonseca, his mother-in-law, Carolyn Gennaro Mooney, his sister-in-law, Michelle Gennaro Wells, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Anthony was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Lynn Rainey, his father, Anthony Joseph Macaluso, Sr., his father-in-law Jake Joseph Gennaro, and his grandparents Gracie Mae Lennard Rainey, Malcolm Rayfield Rainey, Mary DeSalvo Macaluso, and Charles Vincent Macaluso.
A native and resident of New Orleans, Anthony was a 1984 graduate of Brother Martin High School and a graduate of the University of New Orleans where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He will be remembered as a hard-working, compassionate friend and mentor. He was a partner at Hienz & Macaluso, LLC (CPA’s), owner of Ring Street, LLC (Voice Over IP), and a partner at The Chicory (Wedding & Corporate Event Venue). Other ventures included ownership of Frankie & Johnny’s Restaurant, as well as Finn McCool’s Irish Pub.
Anthony loved the times he shared with his children and grandchildren the most. He found peace sitting out back at home amidst the pool fountains and the warmth of the fireplace. He also found serenity overlooking the Emerald Coast at the condo in Destin. He lived out his Catholic faith in how he would reach out to others and offer advice, particularly business advice, as well as reaching out to help with any project or challenge. Family and friends will forever know Anthony as someone they could confide in and count on at any time.
