

Barbara Gary Gaston of Metairie, LA passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on Monday April 21, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in New Orleans, LA on February 24, 1952 to Paul S. Gary Jr. and Rosemary Tabary Gary Touzet. After graduating from Academy of the Holy Angels (Class of 1970), Barbara immediately went to work in the business office of Porter Stevens Menswear in the CBD. After several years, Barbara began employment with Reliant Insurance Company where she met her future husband, Sam Gaston. She and Sam were married in 1982 and shortly thereafter moved to Euless, TX where they lived until Sam's passing in 2016.
Barbara loved to travel, even if it meant traveling alone. Early in her work career she traveled alone to Hawaii, despite this being her first time on an airplane. Her last solo trip was in 2018 when she traveled to the city of her dreams, the Big Apple, New York City. Barbara also enjoyed going to the beach, watching old movies, gardening, and reading. Having no children of her own, Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Gaston III, her parents, and her step-father, Morris E. Touzet. She is survived by her brother Paul S. Gary III (Lloydell), sister Nancy G. O'Neal (Dave) and brother Wayne C. Gary. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Chris O'Neal (Stacy), Kelly O'Neal, Ben Gary (Blythe), Greg Gary (Stephanie), Matt O'Neal (Bentley) and Emily Forbeck (Ashton) and six great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and memorial mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church at 3368 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, LA 70119 on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until the mass at 12:00 Noon. Burial at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 will immediately follow the mass. A reception at the Event Center at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 will follow the burial service.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine's Hospice and Colonial Oaks Living Center for their care of Barbara during this last year.
