

Betty W. Castillo, who enjoyed the last 5 decades of her long healthy life in New Orleans, LA before being called to her enternal home by her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Betty, born in 1930, spent her childhood on her family's farm near Highland, Wisconsin. She married once, to Carlos Z. Castillo in 1950 and lived for a few years each in Alaska, Kentucky and Houma, LA before making her home in New Orleans. Betty was 84 years old. She was a loving mother of 9; Carlos Jr., Rene (deceased, 1997), Marco, Victor (Sharlotte), Lucia C. Speck (Mark Lumetta), Silvia C. Marr (Matthew), Hector (deceased, 1980), Hernan (Yolanda), and Susana C. Watkins. Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Williams of Highland, Wisconsin, adoring sister to her late brother William "Wiggy" Williams (Janice), dear cousin of George Wallenkamp (Vickie), and dear friends with Rita Ann Imhoff (Bob) of Highland, WI and Carol Richgels Freidel of Sun Prairie, WI. Betty was grandmother to Jason, Rachel, Sarah, Alexander, Dominic, Jonathan, Janelle, Nathaniel, Vincent, Claudia, Seth, Rebecca, and Eamon, and great-grandmother to five. Betty, prior to her divorce from Carlos, was the co-owner of Castillo's Mexican Restaurant in the French Quarter through 1975. Thereafter she enjoyed her career as one of the original waitresses for 21 years at Ruth's Chris Steak House, followed by 4 rewarding years as a teaching assistant in the Jefferson Parish school system. Betty had no greater joy than loving her children. A most kind, sweet, and gentle lady, Betty touched everyone with whom she came into contact with. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La. 70124 on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
