

Billie R. Walker LeMaire, 83, passed away at home in New Orleans from natural causes on January 3, 2021. Originally from Bogalusa, Louisiana, Billie graduated from Southeastern University with a secretarial degree and worked briefly with Gulf Oil in New Orleans. It was while working in New Orleans that she met her beloved husband of 45 years, James “Jim” Raphael LeMaire, Sr. After marriage, Billie opted to be a homemaker and raised their three children.
Billie was a skilled pianist and enjoyed league bowling and league tennis at Park Timbers Country Club and then later at English Turn Golf and Country Club where she achieved state level in doubles tennis. Billie also enjoyed volunteering weekly at Mary Joseph Residence for the Elderly (Little Sisters of the Poor) setting hair for residents in the Hair Salon for over 30 years without missing a week. In her senior years, Billie learned the art of making stained glass and was quite good at it.
In the late 1980s, Billie and her husband were one of the first residents of English Turn Golf and Country Club, Billie eventually became the longest tenured resident. Billie and her husband were avid golf fans and occasionally housed PGA rookie golfers in their home.
Billie chose the Catholic Faith and was a parishioner of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church for many years and then later at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Billie will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by her three beloved children, James R. LeMaire, Jr. and his wife Nicole LeMaire of Sugar Land, Texas, Mark S. LeMaire and his wife Rachel LeMaire of Lafayette, Louisiana, Debra L. Coe and her husband Dr. Ronald Coe of Denham Springs, Louisiana and nine grandchildren: Chandler, John Mills and Corinne LeMaire; Calvin, Jean-Paul and Sophie LeMaire; Autumn, Rayne and Sloane Coe.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Raphael LeMaire, Sr.; her parents, Harold Walker and Pearl Dunlap Walker; and one sister, Betty Ann Boudreaux and her husband Tony Boudreaux.
