

Caroline Rees, age 97, peacefully passed away on June 30, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 15, 1921, grew up in Webster Groves and moved to New Orleans in 1945. She was married to James S. Rees, Jr. for 61 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and her parents, Frances Louise Graham and Henry Wade Choate, and her sister, Frances Choate Kenner. She had two children, Callie Rees Clinard (Jerry) and James S. Rees, III (Pamela), four grandchildren, Marcy Knox (Dave), Leslie Clinard, Graham J. Rees (Mei-Ling) and James S. Rees, IV (Lauren), and one great grandchild, Ainsley Knox.
She studied occupational therapy at Washington University in St. Louis and was an occupational therapist at the Cerebral Palsy Center of New Orleans for 20 years. She volunteered at the Children’s Hospital, at the New Orleans Museum of Art as a docent, and taught nursery school at Valencia and St. Charles Presbyterian Church.
During the summers Caroline worked as an assistant director of Twin Oaks Day Camp, teaching swimming.
She was a member of several clubs, including the Audubon Golf Club, Orleans Club, Le Petit Salon, Pi Beta Phi Alumni Club – President, Arrow Investment Club and The Friday Afternoon Club.
She was known for her love of family as an attentive wife and mother and will be missed by all.
