Charles J. Long, Jr., 93, passed away on November 30, 2016 in League City, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Melanie G. Long and son, David C. Long. He is survived by his son Ted Long and grandchildren, David C Long, Jr., Melanie Wallace and Brian Long. Charles retired from US Navy Rank HMCS (Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman) and served on the USS Cowell DD547 in WWII. After retirement from the Navy, he worked as a Business Manager for Diaz Simon Pediatric Clinic. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, cooking and hanging out at Ye Olde College Inn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 a.m.
