Charles Joseph "Charlie" Nizialek found rest following a lengthy illness on Thursday, September 10, 2015, in Houston, Texas, where he was born on December 13, 1983. Charlie attended Loyola University and, although living most of his life in Houston, only felt truly at home here in the Big Easy. Charlie was the loving son of Christena Lee and Philip David Nizialek of New Orleans, and devoted brother to Abigail Elizabeth Nizialek and Ian Alexander Nizialek. He is also survived by three uncles, Maurice Brooks (Becky) Gatlin, Thaddeus (Lynne) Nizialek and Ken (Christine) Nizialek, as well as several cousins. Charlie's family wishes to sincerely thank the many members of the sober living community who meant so much to him as he struggled with addiction. Charlie's many friends are invited to attend a visitation from 11 AM until 1 PM Friday, September 18, 2015, at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery). Interment will immediately follow in Metairie Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Charlie's honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlie's name to: Bridge House, Attn: Charlie Nizialek Memorial Fund, c/o Mr. Kevin Gardere, 4150 Earhart Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70125.
