

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Christian August Fast, Jr. and Martha Sue Fast, and his older brother, James “Jim” Hershel Fast.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kari Renae Fast (Therese) and Rebecca Fast Calaway (Josh); three sons, Christian August Fast, IV (Brittany), Timothy Raymond Fast (Meagan), and Carson Edward Fast; and his younger sister, Kim Fast Ward (John). He was grandfather “Paw Paw Chris” to nine grandchildren, Ainsley Pamela Fast, Jack Raymond Fast, Naomi Rachel Fast, Margaret Allison Fast, Cooper August Fast, Eli Hayes Fast, Daniel James Calaway, Clark Thomas Calaway, and Elliot Samuel Calaway; and numerous extended family members and friends. Chris loved his family dearly, and will be remembered for his comedic personality, intellect, and his relationship with God.
Chris was born in New Orleans on July 6, 1950. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of New Orleans and completed graduate courses at New Orleans Baptist Seminary. His career was in the sales and installation of laboratory furniture, custom cabinetry, and countertops. He was a pastor for 11+ years, taught numerous Bible studies throughout his life, authored a book Biblical Principles of Godly Speech, and was continually memorizing scriptures. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, reading, cooking, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, leading Bible studies, and watching documentaries on World War II.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. A memorial service will follow the gathering at 2:00PM.
