Born on September 10, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Clifford was the son of Clifford Welsh Sr. and Mary Belsom Welsh. He grew up in New Orleans and graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1966. Shortly after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served for three years. His time in Germany remained one of the most memorable and meaningful chapters of his service.
Following his military duty, Clifford used the GI Bill to attend Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Clifford went on to build a long and successful career in the Oil & Gas industry, working as a purchasing agent for companies including Freeport McMoRan, Transocean, and LLOG. His work took him across the world to places such as Indonesia, Australia, Nigeria, and South Africa. He truly loved what he did and took great pride in the relationships he built and the experiences he gained throughout his career.
A devoted husband to Susan Bartlett Welsh for over 44 years, Clifford was the steady foundation of his family—strong, loyal, and endlessly supportive. He was a loving father to Casey Welsh (Ashleigh) and Courtney Welsh Jorge (Nick), and a proud grandfather to Brodie, Connor, Reilley, Maddox, Henri, and Rosemary, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Clifford is survived by his sister Judy Graves (Frank); his brothers Robert Welsh and Kevin Welsh (Tami); and his many nieces and nephews—Erin, Shannon, Colleen, Whitney, Marcie, Tyler, Matthew, Nicholas, Bryan, Eric, and Timothy—all of whom he cared for deeply.
Clifford will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering work ethic, his deep love for his family, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met.
Rest in peace. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
