

Daniel Joseph DeBautte, 92, born in Ama, La. and long-term resident of Waggaman, La. left our earthly world for heavenly peace early Saturday morning February 22nd. Daniel lived a full and meaningful life. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, and steadfast commitment to his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Roman DeBautte and Irene Robert, sister Mary Landry, brother Clifford DeBautte and sister Helen Haik. He is survived by one sister, Audrey Zeringue.
He is also survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth Gambino DeBautte, with whom he shared a loving marriage of 68 years. Together they raised their children, Keith DeBautte (Holly Hawxhurst), Karen Brey (Brian) and Kris Babin (Tim), and enjoyed several loving grandchildren and a great grandchild.
He attended Hahnville High School and was an active player on the baseball and football teams. Following graduation in 1952, he attended the University of Louisiana Lafayette prior to his 3-year service during the Korean war. He was employed with Shell Norco upon his return from duty and eventually spent the final 32 years of his employment with Avondale Shipyard.
Funeral visitation will take place at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Thursday, February 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with a Catholic Burial Mass immediately following. Interment will take place at All Saints Mausoleum.
