

On the morning of November 8, 2022, God called Daniel Paul Jackson, Jr. home at the age of 80. Born May 15, 1942 to the union of Daniel and Bernadine Jackson, Sr, Daniel, a native New Orleanian, he was educated at Epiphany Elementary and St. Augustine High School. Affectionately known as “Diamond Jack” from his days as a DJ, he was a true self-made Entrepreneur having established various businesses and assisting others in procuring businesses. He owned and operated mainly the Handy Corner Grocery, Jack’s Superette, and Bathcrest. Additionally, he supported his family with additional businesses including a pool hall, sweet shop, lounge, shoe store, cleaners and making candy deliveries to local corner stores with his candy truck.
Jack, a diehard Saints Fan, was a former member of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club. Mr. Jackson leaves to cherish his children - four daughters, Donna J. Cummings (Isaac Jr.), Wanda J. Antoine (Ennis Jr.), Debra J. Robertson, Monique Jackson-Lutcher (Kelvin), one son, Daniel P. Jackson III; stepson Keith Williams (Shirley) and stepdaughter Ingrid Blache (Glenn); Sibling - Brenda J. Canty; Shedrick Jackson (Barbara), Deborah J. Daniels, Roderick Jackson; 17 grandchildren - Everett Jackson, Isaac Cummings III, Korie Jackson, Joshua Cummings, Sr. (Ashley), Daniel F. Jackson III, Christopher Jackson (Christine), Brandon Robertson (Endya), Daniel P. Jackson IV, Darnell Jackson, Danielle Jackson, Jared Lewis, Jasmine Martin, Mia Robertson, Jeremiah Lutcher, Shelia W. Walters, Chantel W. Mitchell, Brittany Blache; 22 great-grandchildren; goddaughters Anita Lawrence and Marguerite D. Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Daniel P. Jackson, Sr, and Bernadine Rome Jackson, stepmother, Mabel B. Jackson, wife Claylee W. Jackson, and godson, George Newell. Staff and members of Second Harvest Food Bank, Compass Real Estate, Archdiocese of New Orleans, Orleans Parish School District, DSLD Mortgage Company, Baton Rouge General, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., AMF All Star Lanes, Krewe of Nefertiti, Haven Methodist Church, St. Joseph the Worker, St. Raymond/St. Leo, St. Joseph Catholic Churches, Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral, and Philadelphia Christian Ministries are invited to attend the Christian Burial on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 AM; Service begins at 11:00 AM followed by Interment at Lake Lawn Park.
