David Joseph Licciardi was born on January 17th, 1963, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to David Licciardi and Marie (Mizie) Olivier Licciardi. He was found to have passed away on August 15th, 2025. His sudden loss from presumably natural causes was unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened.
David was predeceased by grandparents, Ruth & Paul Olivier and Almira & Joseph Licciardi, Sr., as well as his father, David Licciardi. David J. Licciardi is survived by his only son and best friend, David B. (Stevie) Licciardi, his mother, Mizie Licciardi, and siblings, Beth (Jay) Schwander, Jill (Carl) Buhler, and Paul (Karen) Licciardi, as well as by his aunt, Carol Blanchard, uncle, Joseph (Simonne) Licciardi, Jr., and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins—a full family is grieving his loss.
Always an excellent student, David attended St. Angela Merici School for elementary and graduated with honors from Jesuit High School in 1981. He received his B.S. in Management from Tulane University in 1985 and his MBA from the University of New Orleans in 2004.
After college, David worked with his father as a real estate appraiser. Then, for 27 years, David worked as a Louisiana certified residential appraiser for the Jefferson Parish Assessor’s Office.
David was a truly gifted musician; he could play anything by ear. Though piano was his first instrument, he also loved the guitar. His family and friends loved to hear him play. David shared a love of the Beatles with his mother, and his witty humor could light up a room with laughter. He had a passion for family and city history and enjoyed learning little known facts about buildings, homes, and past inhabitants of New Orleans. Spending quality time with family and friends was his favorite part of any day—whether it was taking walks with his son and grand-dog, Marty, or calling a loved one just to say, “hi.” David will be greatly missed. Gone too soon.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 11AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Rd., with the Funeral Mass beginning at 1PM. A graveside blessing will follow at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Upon the conclusion of the service, friends and family are invited to a reception at the home of Mizie Licciardi.
