
Dean Joseph Burridge, 60 years old of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home. Dean was born in New Orleans on August 3, 1955. He attended Christian Brothers School, St. Paul’s High School in Covington, and went on to attend Harvard and University of Maryland, where he received degrees in history and political science. Dean worked as a Capital policeman in Washington D.C. Following college, Dean worked as a senior advisor for Senator Bob Dole and at the Department of Energy for more than 22 years. After his retirement in 2008, Dean returned to New Orleans where he was actively involved in many organizations near Bayou St. John, where he lived. He was a master gardener at the Botanical Gardens of City Park. Dean spent much of his time maintaining the park and the gardens of Fortier Park. Dean was also an active member of Faubourg St. John neighborhood. He served as secretary of the neighborhood association for several years. Dean faithfully patrolled the neighborhood with his pal “Benny”, a Jack Russell Terrier. He donated time and money to various neighborhood causes. Dean is survived by his mother, Domini Burridge, his brothers, David C. Burridge, Doug F. Burridge, Daniel F. Burridge (wife: Hillary), and Darren N. Burridge (wife: Naomi) from Austin, Texas. Several nieces and nephews, Anna Burridge Reynolds, Marissa Burridge, Brian Burridge, Eric Burridge, Samantha Burridge, Valerie Burridge, Ken Burridge, and Tyler Burridge. His longtime friend, Sophia Angelini, from Washington D.C. and several other friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Dean Burridge, grandparents, Joseph and Domini McNamee of New Orleans, and Honorable Judge Alice Burridge from Wyoming. The family wishes to thank the many friends and acquaintances of Dean’s who have written such touching condolences on his behalf. There will not be any services for Dean according to his wishes, but there will be a Memorial Mass for him at Our Lady of the Rosary, where he attended Mass, at a later date.
