In the early hours of January 24, 2015, Denise Marie Galouye Zomerdijk, daughter of Carmel Jordan Galouye and the late Daniel Francis Galouye, left the earthly realm to rejoin those dear to her who went before her.
She graduated from Holy Name of Jesus Mercy Academy and studied at St. Mary's Dominican College and Louisiana State University.
She taught Special Education at St. Anthony of Padua, and held several positions with JetBlue Airways, both in New Orleans and New York.
She is survived by her spouse, Gerard J. Zomerdijk, children Cynthia E. Zomerdijk, Paul D. Zomerdijk, his spouse Florence C. Gay Zomerdijk, Nancy C. Zomerdijk Fischbach and her husband H. Noah Fischbach, her grandchildren Tom, Ethan and Eliott, her sister Jeanne A. Galouye Ingraham and spouse Joseph E. Ingraham, as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her zest for life, loving smile and unique sense of humor will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by Mass.
