Diane Maturano Lovecchio, 81, passed away in her home on Friday, March 26, 2021, with her loving husband of 63 years by her side. She was born on January 11, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Peter Maturano and Rosalie Pecoraro Maturano. She was a graduate of Redemptorist High School. She was a devoted wife, a great mother to her five children, and a doting grandmother to her six grandchildren.
She worked at Lovecchio’s Supermarket in Kenner until her retirement. She lovingly cared for her grandmother up until her death. She was a member of Curcillos in Christianity and participated in Handicapped Encounter with Christ. She was proud to serve as a Religious Education teacher at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Ann Church and National Shrine. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was grateful for all the places she got to visit in the world but always said the most thrilling moment she experienced was her first sighting of the Statue of Liberty from the deck of a cruise ship.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Lovecchio; daughters, Francesca Lovecchio Ivy (Michael) and Paula Lovecchio Keller (Scot); sons, Salvatore P. Lovecchio (Mary) and Peter J. Lovecchio (Nicole); and grandchildren, Joshua Ivy, Matthew Keller, Angelina Lovecchio, Celeste Lovecchio, Christina Lovecchio, and Claire Keller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Rosalie Maturano; daughter, Elaina Lovecchio Dooley (the late James); and brother, Joseph Maturano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Ann Church and National Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Dr, Metairie, LA 70006 on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with a Memorial Mass at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
