

Don Jay Fitzpatrick of New Orleans passed away on Tuesday, March 22 at the age of 79. He was the beloved son of the late Kathryn Caswell Fitzpatrick and John Joseph Fitzpatrick, brother of John Joseph Fitzpatrick II (deceased) and Caswell James Fitzpatrick and lifelong devoted companion of the late Larry McDade.
Survived by sister in laws Patricia Boudreaux Fitzpatrick and Betty Spradling Fitzpatrick, nephews John Fitzpatrick, Caswell James Fitzpatrick II, Shawn Patrick Fitzpatrick, Kevin Michael Fitzpatrick, Colin Andrew Fitzpatrick and niece Tracey Fitzpatrick-Smith. Also survived by great nephews Aaron Smith, Jeremy Fitzpatrick, Dillon Fitzpatrick and great nieces Amy Fitzpatrick Maffetonne and Victoria Fitzpatrick.
He was a former employee of Naval Support Activity Public Affairs and Friden Calculating Machine Company and former president of King of Petronius and member of Packard Automobile Classic Club.
Don was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was thoughtful, generous and very loving. He had a passion for dogs, cats and classic automobiles. He was a Katrina survivor from Lakeview but never truly got over the hole it created in his heart. He spent the following years of his life on the Northshore but his heart was still in Lakeview.
He will join his Mother and Dad in Hope Mausoleum at a later date.
Services will be private and donations in Don’s name to the Easter Seal Society or SPCA appreciated.
