

Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mildred E. Leaycraft (Nourrcier); his parents, Charles and Fannie Leaycraft; and his two brothers, Milton and Stanley Leaycraft.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Cheri Charvet (Leaycraft); his son, Donald J. Leaycraft, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Alexandra Borden (Abide), Chloe Leaycraft, Daniel Leaycraft, and Brent Charvet.
Donald was born in New Orleans on June 24, 1940. He graduated from John McDonogh High School and attended the University of New Orleans. He was in the Louisiana National Guard and was a sergeant and chief of section in the Washington Artillery. He was employed with Pan American Life Insurance for 23 years, working in various positions. He was an officer of the company and manager at the time of his retirement. He was a charter member, past president and board member of the In-Plant Printing Management Association.
Don loved music and was a talented guitarist and drummer. He played in several bands over the years and performed on session recordings. Even into his 80’s, his neighbors could hear the sound of drums echoing from his living room, which served as his music studio.
Don also spent many years coaching his son throughout his son’s junior and collegiate tennis career, not missing a single match at LSU or his NCAA championship in Athens, Georgia. Don also enjoyed spending time with and caring for his grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana.
