

Edith (Edie) Hoffman Morphy Mossy passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, surrounded by her family, at the age of 92. She was born in Pensacola, Florida on August 10, 1933. Edie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a friend to all her knew her. In fact, Edie never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul H. Morphy Jr., her second husband, Roy J. Mossy as well as her parents, James M. Hoffman and Edith Lambert Hoffman, and her 4 brothers James, Charles, Milton and Robert. Edie is survived by her son Paul H. Morphy III (Megan) and daughters Lisa Morphy and Carla Morphy Adams (Jay) as well as her loving granddaughters Maureen Manzari (Darren), Mallory Wilcox (Taylor), Meredith Morphy, Katie Adams and Emily Adams and the highlight of her life, great-granddaughter Ava Carla Manzari. Edie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews all of whom she adored.
After moving to New Orleans with her family as a young child, Edie graduated from McMain High School and attended Newcomb College, where she met her husband Paul Morphy on a blind date.
Edie loved her family most and spent the better part of her life lovingly meeting their needs. With her free time, she was a silent advocate at her children’s schools and was a fundraiser for WYES-TV. With her kids out of school, Edie began working with her husband Paul in their family business, Delta Title Corporation. She and Paul loved to travel throughout their marriage, often bringing their kids with them where many memories were created for them all.
Edie was a former member of the New Orleans Country Club, Le Petit Salon and the Orleans Club.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Poydras Home where she lived for the past 6 years, especially her friends and caretakers at the Begonia House as well as Mark Orlic with Anvoi Hospice.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Rita Catholic Church in New Orleans on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 12noon, with visitation beginning at 11am. A private burial will follow.
