

Elaine Worthy Spiess, of Metairie, passed away on April 19, 2026. She was born in New Orleans to William B. Worthy and Elaine Breaud Worthy. Elaine retired from The City of New Orleans Judicial Expense fund as Benefits Coordinator. leaving behind a life filled with warmth, laughter, and deep devotion to those she loved most.
She will always be remembered as a proud and loving grandmother to her one and only granddaughter, who brought her immeasurable joy and was the light of her life.
Her love extended beyond people to her beloved dogs, who were constant companions and a source of comfort and happiness.
Family and friendships meant everything to her. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether through lively gatherings, warm conversations, or simply opening her home to others. She found great joy in entertaining, making sure everyone felt welcome, cared for, and part of something meaningful.
She also had a love for celebration, especially when it came to family weddings. There, she could often be found on the dance floor, smiling brightly and dancing with pure joy.
She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her cherished granddaughter, her loving family, dear friends, and the many people whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, of 47 years, Gary M. Spiess Sr.; son, Gary M. Spiess Jr.
Survivors include her son, Daniel C. Spiess (Stephanie); granddaughter, Abigail G. Spiess; brothers, Edmund “Ned” Worthy (Lorrie) and William B. Worthy Jr. (Elizabeth); and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at 12:00 pm, Friday, May 1, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service. Interment will be in All Saints Mausoleum within Metairie Cemetery. Elaine’s requested family and friends wear anything but black to celebrate her life.
