I was so very sorry to hear of Liz passing. She was one of the nicest  sweetest ladies I was ever been  privileged to call my friend. I didn't hear of this until after the funeral or I would have been there.  My husband Ed passed  on May 31st of this year. He and Earl were good buddies for many years officiating high school football.  Liz and Earl were two of our favorite people. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Mrs. Liz, but man has my mind been flooded with some of the best memories of my life. It is easy to realize that I probably took for granted growing up knowing Mrs. Liz—undoubtedly one of the most kind, thoughtful people I will ever know. I cannot think about those summers at Civitan Camp without thinking of your mom/grandmother, the other “New Orleans Ladies” as they were affectionately known, and of course those homemade chocolate covered mini ritz crackers they brought with them every year.  Your mom truly had a special way connecting with anyone lucky enough to meet her. These fond memories of her I will never forget.

Rusty, Craig, and Lisa, So sorry to hear of your Mothers' passing.  She was such a pleasant person to be around.  It looks like she gave tirelessley at the Civetan Camp in Mississippi.  May God's Peace and Grace give you the strength to carry on during this most trying time.

Liz was the consummate gracious  southern lady.  We met in the woods of south Mississippi and formed a friendship that was such a treasure for me. During the years at Civitan Camp, Liz worked tirelessly to serve the adults with disabilities that she so loved.  Affectionately known as Miss Liz, she made every one feel they were so special.  Each year, we would laugh about that first night she was “dumped” in the middle of the woods and how she survived.  Our favorite times were the late night talks in the cabin.  She adored her family and  brought Lisa and all  the Spindel grandchildren into the camp family as well as a long standing connection to Jesuit students.  It was her mission to build respect and dignity for all people.  She worked tirelessly to bring joy to so many. For me she was such a role model as a mother and grandmother. I was truly blessed to have her in my life.
