

Elizabeth “Liz” Gray Spindel, age 90, passed away at her home in Haslet, TX on Friday, August 6, 2021 She was a native of New Orleans for 70 years and has lived in Haslet, TX since 2005. She was born on October 3, 1930 in Puerto Armuelles, Panama to Rolliston Gray and Madeline Landry Gray. She is survived by her three children, E. Rusty Spindel (Susan), Craig M. Spindel, and Lisa S. Allen (Michael); six Grandchildren, Chad (Elinor), Brad (Tetiana), Nicholas, Stephen (Nikki), Heather (Spence) and Amanda (Dustin); eight Great Grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, Hayleigh, Ainsley, Oleksandra, Noah, Sophia and Hazel; Special Person to Fawn Oliveri, Johanne Llasos and Julianne; and many nieces and nephews. Liz’s passion was volunteering for the Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp in Mississippi for 25 years, for which she received a Citizenship Award for Outstanding Contributions to Our Community Camp and “Making A Difference Award” from WDSU News. She graduated from Kohn High School in New Orleans in 1947 where she was voted Health Queen. Liz was a member of the le Cher Moitie Social Club (WeDK Fraternity spouses). Her husband of 63 years, Earl Spindel; her parents, Rolliston and Madeline Gray; and her sister, Patricia Gray Locicero, preceded Liz in death. She was known for her love of roses and quilts.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. A burial will follow Mass in Metairie Cemetery.
