Elodie Schminke

Elodie Conzelmann Schminke entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the age of 89. Daughter of the late Inez Gilly and Ernest M. Conzelmann Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years George F. Schminke III; her children George (Patti Simmons) of Savannah, GA, Lynn Marcel (Brian) of Kenner, LA, and Barbara Smith (Ron) of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by sisters Shirley Villarrubia, Inez Hull, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Cathryn S. Bailey of Monticello, MS; her sisters Katherine Nolan, Ethelyn Rivard, and brother Ernest M. Conzelmann, Jr. She was Grandma Dee to 6 grandchildren: Laura Bailey Bass (Kirk), Ken Bailey, Jr., Beth (James) and Mark Schminke, Matthew Marcel (Kim), and David Smith (Kristal), and 7 great grandchildren: Kathleen, Seth, and Tucker Bass, Caleb Bailey, Jacob and Juliana Marcel, and Aubree Smith. Elodie was a former school teacher and librarian who loved to quilt, read, and play bridge. She was a resident of Ville Ste. Marie for the past 5 years. Many thanks to the staff at Ville Ste. Marie, the 2 East nurses and staff at East Jefferson General Hospital, and the caregivers at Notre Dame Hospice for their exceptional care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11am. Visitation will begin at 9am. Interment will follow in Metairie cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses or donations to Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, 1000 Howard Ave. Ste 1000, New Orleans, LA, 70113-1942 preferred.
