

Emile A. Bergeron, Sr. passed away peacefully in his Metairie home on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the age of 82. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 2, 1939. Mr. Bergeron grew up in New Orleans and attended Nicholls High School where he met his loving wife of 59 years, the late Sandra F. Bergeron. Together, they raised their six children. He is survived by his children: Emile Bergeron, Jr. (Anne), Laura B. Copeland, Kevin Bergeron, Jason Bergeron, and Adam Bergeron; brother-in-law, Michael Fradella; half-brother-in-law, Shane Fradella as well as nieces and nephews. He was blessed with sixteen grandchildren: Bethany Robinson (Josh), Abbi Keating (Paul), Benjamin (Miranda), Rebecca, Hannah, Joseph, Jonathan, Christina, Lydia, Chloe and Noah Bergeron; Austin and Wade Copeland; Sabrina Burgess (Tony), Kristopher Harvey, Justin Bergeron; and 10 great-grandchildren: Tori Tersteeg (Justin), Mallory Landry, Doug Landry, Blake Burgess, Clark, Lane, Eleanore & Eloise Robinson; Baby Keating (due in October). Emile is preceded in death by his son, Bryan Bergeron; parents, Emile and Anna Katherine Bergeron; brother, Rodney Bergeron (Sylvia); son-in-law, Gil Copeland; sister, Jacquelyn B. Newman (Barry).
He served in the Louisiana Coast Guard and was a faithful parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. Emile followed in his father's footsteps and worked as a skilled machinist, committing over fifty years to his craft. He started and managed a local metal fabrication business and was fully dedicated and forever grateful to his employees. Family and friends knew and loved him for his compassionate heart and generous spirit. Emile treasured simplicity and found great joy and pleasure in watching early morning sunrises at Lake Pontchartrain with his running friends, walking and playing frisbee with his dogs, feeding the birds and squirrels that frequented his back yard, tending and harvesting homegrown citrus and figs; and most of all, spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed and remembered lovingly for his determination and resolve, a man of quiet strength and contentment. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Monday, July 25, 2022 at St. Clement of Rome, 4317 Richland Ave, Metairie, LA 70002. Visitation will being at 10:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00PM. Interment will be at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
