Emily was born in Abilene, Texas on September 24, 1933, and later moved to New Orleans. She has been a resident of Terrytown, Louisiana since 1965. She graduated from University of Southern Mississippi (USM), where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. She was a homemaker, a part-time piano teacher, and music teacher in her earlier years.
Emily was baptized as an Episcopalian on October 22, 1933, and later joined the Methodist Church in 1966. She was a longtime member of Gretna United Methodist Church; a church she truly loved and adored. She also devoted her time and efforts to many of the church’s activities, including the choir, which she enjoyed immensely, and membership with the Women’s Auxiliary. Emily loved Mardi Gras, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading books, solving puzzles, playing games, quilting, bird watching, visiting with her friends, camping, and travelling around the country. Her husband was a veteran of the U.S Navy, and for many years would spend six weeks traveling to the Navy reunion, and would visit their many friends along the way.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and congregation of Gretna United Methodist Church. Emily loved the church and all of its members dearly, both new and old.
