

Ethelyn Bourgeois Miller passed away peacefully on March 26, 2022, surrounded by her family at the age of 95. She was born in Edgard, LA on August 29, 1926, and raised in New Orleans as the youngest daughter in a family of ten children. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Peter Miller Jr., and survived by her two daughters, Nancy Miller Schiffman (Lance) and Rebecca Miller Edmund (Dan). She is Grammy to seven grandchildren; Kevin H. Schiffman (Cara), Emily S. Cook (Tommy), Dana S. Tucker (David), Lynn S. Indest (Ryan), Kenneth E. Schiffman (Lauren), Bonnie S. Brignac (Alex) and Daniel R. Edmund Jr., and to eight great grandchildren; Harrison Schiffman, Corinne Cook, Claire Tucker, Colin Tucker, Anne Clare Schiffman, Miller Brignac, Jude Brignac, and Lance Brignac. Ethelyn is also predeceased by her parents, Benjamin D. & Leila Webre Bourgeois, siblings Hartridge J. Bourgeois, Enid B. Zeringue, Ruth B. Franck, Lelia B. Galjour, Dorothy B. Preau, Edith Mae Bourgeois, Doris B. Manalla and Benjamin D. Bourgeois Jr., and survived by her brother Daniel J. Bourgeois.
Ethelyn was a devout Catholic with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and was a faithful parishioner at St Pius X Catholic Church for 65 years, where she volunteered and participated in parish organizations. In addition, she worked in the administrative office of Mt. Carmel Academy for 38 years until her retirement in 2011. She cherished her family life above all else and spent many holidays, birthdays and other special occasions preparing delicious meals and enjoying time with her family. She regularly attended events featuring her children’s and grandchildren’s participation and always had an open door to her many extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, 11 a.m., at St. Pius X Church in Lake Vista. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment at Lake Lawn Mausoleum will immediately follow the mass. The family asks that contributions be made in memory of Ethelyn B. Miller to Mt.
