
Frances E. Pohlig, ‘Aunt Frances,’ born in Ponchatoula, La. on July 15, 1927, grew up in Ferriday, La. A resident of Metairie, La. for over 60 years, passed away at her home on June 10, 2014. Growing up with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley, Aunt Frances, as she was known, was always the life of the party! A retired training supervisor for Winn-Dixie, many employees' lives were impacted by her skill for training new employees and holding grand store openings throughout many Southern states. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband George Pohlig, her parents P.E. and Lucretia Edwards of Wilmer, La., her sister Monita E. Spring, brothers Gerard ‘Rod,’ Edwards and James Edwards. She is survived by her nephew C. Dennis Spring and his spouse Cindy, nephew Donald Spring and his spouse Laynette, niece Sandra Williams and her spouse Ron Williams, nephew Jim Edwards of Sacramento, Ca., John Edwards and his wife Julie of Modesto, Ca., her niece Gail Faulkner and spouse Bud of Metairie, La., her niece Cathy Vann of Austin, TX and several great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her very close friends and longtime neighbors, David and Judy Sintes, Chris and Mary Marks and Ms. Dot Silbernagel, for all of their love and support over the years. The family would also like to extend a very special thanks to her care givers for the last months of her life, Vanessa LaBeaud and Latonia Harris for their wonderful care and attention, as well as Ms. Berdie Soignet with Egan Hospice. An active member of Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church for 55 years, Aunt Frances loved the Lord.
A visitation will take place at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Friday, June 13, from 9am – 11am, with religious services at 11am. Interment in All Saints Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be: C. Dennis Spring, Donald Spring, T. Brad Spring, C. Brian Spring, Shane Sterba, and Ron Williams. Honorary pallbearers are David Sintes and Chris Marks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in her honor to Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church, 215 Phosphor Ave., Metairie La. 70005.
