Gayle Helen Walther

Gayle Earhart Anderson Walther 78, devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away on August 25, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents Phoenix L. Earhart and Ursula LeBlanc Earhart Brune, as well as loving husband Joseph C. Walther. Survivors include, children Todd Anderson, Tracey Anderson, Kristin Walther Jarrett (Aaron), step child Shawn Joseph Walther. She thrived as a grandmother to grandchildren Devin Michael Snow, Jacob Besse, Ashton Braselman, as well as Addison, Brayden and Cohen Jarrett. She will also be missed by a host of nieces and nephews all very special to her as well as her in-laws Pamela Dave and Dianne Walther who assisted in her care throughout her battle.

Gayle was retired from The Jackson Barracks National Guard serving 42 years in the mobilization and readiness division as one of only a handful of civilians in the Nation Guard Federal Technician Program. A longtime resident of Chalmette LA she passed away in Ponchatoula which was her new home, like many, after hurricane Katrina.

The family would like to thank St. Tammany Hospice for their special care during a time when it was needed most. She was a dedicated and loving mother wife as well as a friend to many, and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin from 11:00 AM until funeral time. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.

As many know Gayle was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor and type of cancer 7 years ago. Where many people only get months or at best a year she persisted battled and had faith to miraculously have so many extra years with her family.
