

On May 25, 2023, the angels came for George Frederick Sutter, Jr., who passed away at the Inn at Greenwood Village, Colorado. A New Orleans native, George was born on August 20, 1926, to the late Isabella Ross Sutter and George F. Sutter. He was the brother of the late Emelda Scariano, the late Marlene Braud, and the late Gwendolyn Sutter. For 52 years, he was married to his true love, the late Leah Reese Sutter. He and Leah moved to Colorado thirty-one years ago to be near their beloved daughter, Glenda Sutter Rainold, and grand-daughters Leah Medvin (Seth), and Margaret Hibler (Matthew.) Poppy, as he was affectionately known, was a warm, loving, and generous man, who was devoted to his family in the most unselfish way. His best friend was Emile “Tony” Rainold, III, who visited George daily, and prayed the rosary with him. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Centennial, Colorado.
In his early life, George graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School, and went to work for the US Army Corps of Engineers. He furthered his education by taking classes at Tulane University and the University of California, Davis. At his retirement, he was chief of data processing for the Department of Waterborne Commerce on the Mississippi River.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 2023, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, with visitation at 10:00 am, and a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
