Born in Kalanaur, India, he graduated with a medical degree from the Government Medical College in Amritsar. After graduating, he met his wife, Gillian, who was working in the same hospital in India as an Anglican Missionary to set up a new Electron Microscope. They later moved to England where they married and he started practicing as an Anesthesiologist in Hastings, England. He continued to practice and teach medicine in England, Scotland, Canada and most recently, Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans, LA, where he retired. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, teaching, John Wayne movies and professional wrestling.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother, and is survived by his son, Hamish Moudgil (Kim), sister-in-law, granddaughters, nieces, nephew and great-grandson.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the support and service of the staff and caregivers of Home Instead and Interim Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 11 AM – 1 PM.
