Glenda was born on December 29, 1939, at the New Orleans Hospital and Dispensary for Women and Children, the daughter of Alphonse Henri Rodriguez and Lucille Marie Achee' Rodriguez. Born the fourth of nine children, Glenda had three sisters and five brothers. Glenda grew up in Uptown New Orleans and her family later moved to River Ridge. She graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1958 and attended Meadows-Draughon College in 1959. During high school, Glenda met George Henry Evans, Jr., who became the love of her life, her future husband and the father of their three beautiful daughters: Leslie, Pam and Missy. Married in 1960, Glenda and George raised their girls in the New Orleans area, then Houston, TX for six years, before moving back to New Orleans in 1976 and building their family home in River Ridge where they lived for 45 years until Hurricane Ida in September 2021.
Glenda worked alongside George for many years as Corporate Secretary of SEISCO, Inc., their family-owned business in the seismic and geophysical industry that George founded in 1992. For over 40 years, Glenda was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Society of Petroleum Geologists, as well as the Shady Oaks Garden Club. However, Glenda’s true calling was her faithful dedication to her loving family, who were the joy of her Life. To her girls, she will always be remembered as their “Queen Bee” -- an exemplary role model, a beautiful and very classy lady, and a homemaker extraordinaire! Glenda also cherished the many gatherings of their large and close-knit extended family for holidays and special occasions. Later in life, she enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all their endeavors by attending as many of their academic and extracurricular events as possible.
Glenda is survived by many close family and friends who will dearly miss her, especially her three devoted daughters, Leslie Evans Krilov, (Sandy); Pamela Evans Harp (Jim), and Melissa Evans Dreuil (Emile). “GG” will also be missed by all nine of her adoring grandchildren: Preston Thomas Blaum, Christopher George Blaum, Elizabeth Harp Smith (Adrian), Alexander Evans Harp, Victoria Harp Ruli (Jack), William James Harp, Samuel Evans Dreuil, Benjamin Emile Dreuil, and Lily Marie Dreuil; as well as her great-grandson, Oliver James Smith. Glenda is also survived by four of her siblings and their spouses, Robert “Bobby” Rodriguez (Rachel), Suzanne “Sue” Duthu (Jimmy), Allen “Charlie” Rodriguez (Brenda) and Yvonne Dietz (Richie); a sister-in-law, Lana Rodriguez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Glenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, George, her parents; and four of her siblings and two of their spouses, Joan R. Lucio (Ben), Leo K. Rodriguez (Ruth), Alphonse H. Rodriguez Jr. and Russell “Rusty” Rodriguez Sr. Glenda’s six grandsons will be her pallbearers.
