

Glenn Mary Garitty Gandolfi passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 21, 2014. She was 85 years old, and a life-long resident of New Orleans and Metairie. Glenn Mary was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1929, and attended St. Mary’s Dominican High School, where she was an active member of the Dominican Alumnae Association, serving as President for two terms and chairwoman of several committees. She was the recipient of the Sister Mary Angela Mulhern Service Award in 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Harriet Garitty, her brother, Earl “Bubby” Garitty, and her grandson, Marshall Gandolfi Gottsegen. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Stanley, daughters, Mary Ann Nally (Tom), Laurie Berrigan (Jimmy), Jaimie Majoria (Ryan), Becky Gottsegen (Thomas), and Fran Moran (Bill), and sons Gary (Rose), Tommy (Kay), and Kenny, 11 granddaughters, 16 grandsons, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. She will be greatly remembered and cherished as a loving wife, the greatest mother, a doting grandmother, and a loyal friend. Special thanks to the staff of Passages Hospice -- particularly, Chris McQuaid-Wright, R.N. and Sylvia Beyers, R.N. and her caregivers, Kellie Harris and Demetrius “Nell” Toliver, who gave loving care to her in her final years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Christopher the Martyr Church, 3900 Derbigny St., Metairie, Louisiana, on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00pm, with visitation starting at 11:00am.
