Dr. Gurmukh Singh Bawa, M.D. passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Harjeet Bawa. Loving father of Johny Bawa (Tina) and Pamela Layton (Shawn). Grandfather of Rhea and Daven Bawa; and Laci, Madison, and Katie Layton. Brother of Manjit, Satinder, and Daljeet Bawa. Son of the late Dr. Madan Singh and Kartar Bawa.
Dr. Bawa was a Major in the U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia and Killeen, Texas. He was a member of the New Orleans Medical Society and the AMA. Dr. Bawa was a quiet, gentle soul, loved by everybody, and will be missed dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, February 4 from 10:00AM until 12:30PM immediately followed by cremation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans. After the cremation, please join the family at the Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh Temple), 8433 Morrison Road in New Orleans, LA 70127.
