Gwen Ehrhardt Welch passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born in New Orleans on September 5, 1948. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn P. Welch, Jr. She was also preceded by her parents Malcolm P. Ehrhardt, Jr. and Jacqueline Bourgeois Ehrhardt and her brother Malcolm P. Ehrhardt, III. She is survived by her children Glenn III (Tammy), Tiffany Welch Stutzenbecker (Brian) and Scott (Shannon), her two brothers, Phil (Linda) and Ken (Liz) Ehrhardt, and her three Sisters-In-Law, Pia Ehrhardt, Barbara Richoux, and Cheryl Giraldi. She was so proud and spent as much time as she could with her four grandchildren Megan and Glenn Paul Welch, IV, and William and Jack Stutzenbecker. Gwen attended St. Agnes Elementary School, Mercy Academy High School, and SLU. She was an active member of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church for her entire adult life. Gwen and her husband Glenn were Independent Distributors for The Times-Picayune for over 50 years. They were also lifetime members of Lakeside Country Club and Gwen spent many years there working in the office and enjoying many happy times with her family and friends. She was also a proud member of the LLL Ladies group who met frequently for lunch to enjoy each other’s company. Gwen’s favorite thing was spending evenings sitting on her swing at her home where countless times it would turn into gatherings of family and friends who would enjoy laughter and warm conversations with wine and a cold beer in the frosted mugs she kept in her freezer. Gwen was selfless, hardworking, strong and loving, a great listener, and quick to giggle uncontrollably (and to make others giggle uncontrollably). She will be sorely missed but always remembered for her love, support and kindness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass and Service at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 835 Melody Drive, Metairie, LA on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 am with Mass scheduled for noon. Interment will be at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St. In lieu of flowers, Mass intentions in her name are appreciated.
