

Harold William Johnston, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 2, 2016 at the age of 81. Beloved husband for 56½ years of Ann Pitre Johnston. Loving father of Stephanie Summers (Huw), Colleen Collet (Kirk), Arthur Johnston (Katherine), Gary Johnston (Michelle), Catherine Meisch (Joseph), and the late Mary Louise Johnston. Son of the late Harold and Beatrice Hale Johnston. Brother of the late James Hale Johnston. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold was born and raised in Bay St. Louis. He was a graduate of St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis, Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville, and Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Harold was a talented musician who played the clarinet in the marching bands at St. Stanislaus, beginning in 5th grade through high school and junior college. In high school and junior college he also played in the school orchestras.
For six years, Harold served his country proudly and honorably as a United States Marine. He was a pioneer in the computer age, and was a Systems Analyst with a concentration in major manufacturing.
Harold was a parishioner, usher, and Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick’s Church. He was awarded the Order of St. Louis Medallion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 724 Camp Street in New Orleans, on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00AM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 8:30AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
