Mrs. Harrie Jerome Neelis Grady

Harrie J. Grady, age 79, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Harrie J. is survived by her children, Jud Grady (Jeannie), Sue Grady, Jody Lopez (Rene), Jim Grady (Bonnie), and Tom Grady (Ashley) as well as her grandchildren , Amie Chopra (Aditya), Judson Grady, Grady Lopez, Ana Leigh Lopez, Rebecca Grady, Cade Grady, Gail Hodges Grady, Maggie Grady, Jack Grady, Ellen Grady, Thomas Grady, and Rolland Grady and her great-grandson, Joseph Chopra. Additionally survived by her sister Patsy Neelis (a resident of Milne Home for Women) and her brother Buzzy Neelis as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Grady; her husband, Ed Grady; her sister Joe Anne Roberts; and her brother Jack Neelis. Pregnant and tired of wearing her husband’s shirts, she opened Harrie J’s Maternity Fashions. After becoming a grandmother, she expanded to include children’s clothing, changing the name to Harrie J’s Maternity Fashions and Young Heirs. She had a vibrant personality and loved connecting with many expectant and young mothers of New Orleans at a special time in their lives. With the assistance of her daughter, Sue Grady, and her dear friend, Sue Faust, Harrie J’s clothed mothers and children for over 40 years. She was a member of St Catherine of Siena Church and Altar Society. A memorial mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA on Saturday, January 9.
