Ralph, I am so sorry. Helen will be remembered as the most welcoming, hospitable and vibrant of women. She and the jazz are inseparable.

What a tremendous loss. Helen was a lovely lady with a radiant smile and lively sense of humor.  I will never enter the Spotted Cat without seeing Helen perched on "her" barstool in front of the band enjoying Sunday evening jazz.  She will be greatly missed on Frenchmen.

We will always remember you for your great passion for the music we all love and your ability to communicate the warmth of your spirit to all those who met you, both friends and strangers.

Where to start, how about taking tap dancing and acrobatics together in the 7th grade or perhaps eating cherry pie for breakfast after a slumber party in the eighth grade or being roommates our freshmen year at W Va University....and then on to memories that include Mardi Gras together.

And as the great jazz vocalist, Shirley Horn sings it, HERE'S TO LIFE AND ALL THE JOY IT BRINGS

Ralph, what a lucky  and loving man you are.

Such a warm, welcoming and real woman was Helen.

Helen made you feel so welcome when you arrived in town for your semi-annual visit.  It was as if she had seen you yesterday.  She had a brave, open heart and a love of people,  Jazz and Horse Racing.  I will remember her every time I hear Jazz and will raise my glass to her when I watch the Belmont on TV on the 7th.  Perhaps we will have a triple crown winner this year in her honour!  
Helen you are loved and missed by so many.  Peter (UK) and I (Canada) are thinking of you.


Helen was a great southern lady.  We will miss her enthusiasm and joy of life. Our prayers are with the family she loved so much.  Wish we could be there to celebrate her life but we'll be thinking about you all.

Helen with her Vibrant Smile and Energy about Her,  made Whomever She was around be a Happier and Better Person.  Wherever there was music, you hoped you would see Helen and Ralph so we could all share it and enjoy it together.  And something tells me the music was even better whenever Helen and Ralph were in attendance.  Helen was a favorite with ALL the bands.

Helen lit up a room with her smile and filled it with her positive outlook and welcoming personality. Even though we saw each other only a few times after college, she always remained the same.  You will be missed sister in Alpha Phi.. Love to Ralph and sons.

Helen was "love and all that jazz". She was a great ambassador for New Orleans and she, along with Ralph, led us to the essence of this wonderful culture. She was the most joyful person we have known and we will always remember her. Love Cheri and Nick

Helen was first a teacher and I remember the interest she took in my young life showing me how to create a Duodecahedron made with straws and string.  Barbara and I enjoyed some outrageous times with Helen and Ralph in New Orleans.  We loved her and know she is resting in peace.

Helen, you and Ralph lived the life I hope to have in retirement. You celebrated the joys of life everyday. I know that you are enjoying the music in heaven with the New Orleans musicians who are there. I will always remember you.
