Henry Florance Heaton III (born June 21st, 1958) passed away peacefully at home on December 4th, 2023. Henry grew up in the Carrollton area, and in his early life, was active in the neighborhood’s community spanning from baseball to politics. Henry graduated from De La Salle High School, where he was a star right-field baseball player. He completed his Bachelor of Business at the University of New Orleans. For 25 years (1986-2010), he proudly served the City of New Orleans as the Accessor for the 7th Municipal District.
Throughout his life, Henry loved being outdoors and spending time with his friends and family. His favorite pastimes included playing ball, camping, golfing, fishing, trips to Perdido Key and Jordan River Shores, and poker nights in his man cave. Henry’s larger-than-life personality, shown best through his storytelling, is what will be most remembered and what will live on in the hearts of many.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin H. Heaton, Sr. and Janet Kramer Heaton, and by his siblings, Edwin H. Heaton, Jr., Bridget Heaton Schommer, Rebecca Heaton McGuire, and Alexander M. Heaton.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Erin Bannon Heaton, and his three children, Katherine Kramer Heaton Blood (Jason), Jessie Atchley Mauer (Jeff), and Henry Florance Heaton IV. He was the proud grandfather or “Bear” to Oakes & Ryker and Uncle Henry to many nieces & nephews whom he cherished greatly.
Friends and family are invited to join us on Monday, December 11th at Lake Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation is from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
