He was married for 50 years to his late wife, Evelyn Nell Brown. A proud father of 2 children, Jack Desemar, Jr. (Terri) and Sally Desemar Cuzzort (Michael), and an extraordinary grandfather to Taylor Leonard, Meagan Desemar and Lauren Desemar. The son of the late Walter Weldon Desemar and Mildred Stansbury Desemar. Survived by his sister, Mary Carol Hosner and preceded in death by his sisters, Joy Dangerfield, Mirlo Kinder, and brother, Weldon Desemar. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Merchant Marines along with the United States Army during World War II.
He was the owner of Jack J. Desemar, Contractor, a master carpenter, specializing in home building, design, and in later years, meticulous renovation of uptown homes.
He was full of love, light, and laughter with each person he met. A man that was truly one of a kind with a generous heart and an unexpected sense of humor.
He enjoyed spending his free time doing puzzles with his loved ones, though he’d always tell anyone helping that they were cheating! He loved his walks on sunny days and never turned down a McDonald’s milkshake. He was a simple man who never said a negative word about anyone.
The ones whom had the pleasure of knowing him will carry his love in their hearts forever.
Jack’s family would like to thank Cheryl Romero, Sheila Millet, Emily Gautreaux, Barbara Ball, and the entire staff of Serenity Hospice of New Orleans and the Palliative Care Group of the Veterans Affairs for their loving care and compassion.
