Jane Dunn Lugenbuhl, born on October 5, 1927, a longtime resident of New Orleans, and a more recent resident of Covington, LA, passed away on January 3, 2021 at Christwood Assisted Living. She is survived by daughter, Susan Theodore; daughter-in-law, Susan A. Lugenbuhl; and by grandchildren, Courtney L. Ragusa, James Lugenbuhl, Christine E. Sloan, Katherine P. Theodore, and Ashley L. Theodore; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Lugenbuhl; son, Karl Eric Lugenbuhl; and parents, James Bateman Dunn and Vera Malone Dunn.
Jane graduated from LSU in 1950 where she met her future husband, Charlie. While at LSU, Jane was active in the Phi Mu Sorority and for two years lived in the French House. Prior to the construction of I-10 and during the 1950’s and early 1960’s, Jane and Charlie, as avid LSU fans, made regular treks to Tiger Stadium. The trip was all the more adventurous as the fastest route was via Airline Highway (stop lights and all) and shared with fellow exuberant LSU fans.
Jane was a full time mom raising her family. After her children were grown, she worked as the receptionist at The Academy of the Sacred Heart. Jane was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lakeview for many years and was active in the Altar Guild, St. Cecilia’s Guild, and the Wedding Ministry. She was also a long-time member of the weekly Bible Study program.
The family would like to thank the Christwood Retirement Community and Notre Dame Hospice for their special attention to Jane. A special thank you to Anne Fontcuberta who was Jane’s advocate and companion for the last eight years.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral services will be private. The family invites you to share memories and condolences online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
