Jerry was born to Conrad C Ingold and Virginia “Jeanie” Davis Ingold on July 20, 1950 in Rockville Centre, New York.
Jerry was a native of Dania Beach, Florida where he was well known for his baseball and football accolades - leading his little league baseball team to a state championship and earning all county honors as the starting halfback for South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida where he graduated in 1968.
In the early 1970s, Jerry hitchhiked the lower forty-eight states, eventually settling in New Orleans near his brother and best friend, “V.” In New Orleans, Jerry became a licensed contractor and owned his own business for many years.
Jerry was an adventurer who enjoyed spending time outdoors - camping, fishing and hiking. As an avid water and snow skier, he would frequent the rivers of South Louisiana on his boat during the summer and travel to the mountains of California, Colorado and Utah during winter. Jerry was well-known by locals for his time spent at Marina Del Ray in Madisonville and in Sandy, Utah where he once owned a home and learned to ski.
In the 1980s Jerry relocated to the Northshore and raised a family in Covington, Louisiana where he made a lasting impact on his community. Some of Jerry’s greatest memories were made coaching his son’s baseball and basketball teams at the Covington Recreation Department. As a coach, Jerry was known for his kindness and willingness to pick up any kid who didn’t have transportation to and from practice.
Jerry had a passion for music and played a mean jazz piano. He followed great New Orleans musicians like Professor Longhair, Dr. John and James Booker. He looked forward to attending the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival every year with family and friends and took great pride in his early contributions to the festival as a stage carpenter.
Above all else, Jerry wanted the best for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife; Janet LaPrime Ingold, his brother; Conrad “V” Ingold, sister-in-law; Patricia “Patty” Ingold, his children; Crystal Ingold Hurley, the late Edward Hurley, Justin Ingold, Jennifer Renton Ingold and Anna Lee Ingold, his stepchildren; Jennifer Roth Monnerjahn, Stephen Monnerjahn and Philip Roth Jr. as well as his grandchildren; Mason Monnerjahn, Joel Monnerjahn, Sofia Monnerjahn and Connor Roth.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 1:00 pm. There will be a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
