He was born in Bridgeport, West Virginia on September 3, 1939, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War era, where he was stationed in Germany and France.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia Moore; his parents, Cecil and Nellie Moore; and his two brothers and one sister.
Jerry is survived by his two children, Jerry R. Moore, Jr. (Lovone) and Terri Rubio (Jaime); his four grandchildren, Jeffery Riviére, Zachery Moore (Michelle), Amanda Adams (Jeremiah), and Jourdan Riviére; and his four great-grandchildren, Kollin, Abby, Clara, and Isabel. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Gillespie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry's family is being assisted during this difficult time by Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, located in New Orleans, LA. His warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 7:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 5:00PM.
