Joseph “Mr. Joe” LoCicero peacefully entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 18th, joyously reuniting with his devoted wife Dorothy, to whom he was married for 62 years.
Mr. Joe was 88, born on April 20, 1928 in New Orleans, the son of Battiste and Marcelle LoCicero, brother to Audrey Smith and Diane LoCicero, father to Kirk John LoCicero, Kim Autin and Kathy McConnell (Kelle) and grandfather to Bobby and Jason Autin and Kameron McConnell.
Mr. Joe loved the Lord from an early age, serving as an altar boy starting at age 7 at the St. Louis Cathedral Church. He became a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Kenner where, over the years, he taught many classes in the Scripture, ultimately writing his own personal testimony, The Fullness Of Israel.
Mr. Joe was an accountant by profession, having worked extensively in the automobile business in New Orleans until his retirement.
As a young man, he attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and played trombone as a member of the marching Tiger Band from Tiger Land.
Mr. Joe always centered his life on his family and his friends in the Lord.
He loved fishing and boating and was an avid aviator, spending many years at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport, piloting small planes for recreation, thrilling his young children with rides over the lake and above the city.
His kindness and gentle spirit were a joy to all who cared for him in his later years including Beverly, Dollie, Darleen, Mindy, Lauren, Lisa, Peggy, Jeanne and Donielle. He grew to love them all as deeply as his own family. Their dedication and devotion to him was boundless. The family wishes to extend our most heartfelt thanks to each of you for the joy and richness you brought to his life by your presence.
Although our heart is breaking at dad’s departure, we are comforted in the certainty that he is now in the loving arms of Jesus, rejoicing with his loved ones in the glorious fulfillment of the Lord’s promise that his soul will live forever in heavenly peace.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 23, at 10:00am at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home with a prayer service at 11:00am in the All Saints Mauseleum.
