

Joseph C. Marcello passed away peacefully on September 17th at his home surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gail McCarley Marcello; his sons, Carlos, Steven and Dean Marcello; and his daughter, Dayna Marcello Morvant (Travis Bozeman III). He is also survived by his grandson, Jake Morvant, whom he was so proud of; and his sisters, Louise Hampton, Florence Black, Jacqueline Dugas (Preston) and many nieces and nephews. He is the son of the late Carlos Marcello and Jacqueline Todaro Marcello.
Joseph attended Holy Cross High School and University of New Orleans. He was a prominent business person, entrepreneur, real estate investor and developer. Notable businesses he owned earlier in his career included the legendary Broussard’s Restaurant in the French Quarter, Pelican Tomato Company and Bubba’s Produce. Later in life, he focused on developing and managing real estate. As a major landowner in Jefferson Parish, Joe believed deeply in using his resources for the public good. He donated land that is now the Churchill Technology and Business Park which houses the Jefferson Economic Development Commission, the Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy, Delgado Community College’s River City Campus and Advanced Manufacturing Center and a state of the art conference facility. Joe enjoyed his daily workouts, snow skiing, playing golf, watching football and especially dining with family and friends. He will be remembered for his devotion to his friends and family and his anonymous gifts and donations. Family and friends are invited to attend services for Joe on Friday, September 26, 2025 held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. A visitation will be from 9:00am until the service begins at 11:00am. A reception is to follow and interment will be private for family.
