We were sorry to hear about Joe's passing.   Joe was a great guy and will be missed.

My condolences to the Messina family and friends on the loss of Joe to this world.
It was a pleasure and privilege to have known him for many years as a friend and an admired colleague. 
I will miss our periodic phone chats and occasional lunch dates that now seem to have been much too infrequent.  
And I will long remember Joe as the kind, considerate gentleman that he was in all our encounters.

My dearest Brother, I shall never forget a beautiful letter you wrote me not long ago while attending your yearly Retreat at Manresa.  In it you spoke of how proud you were of me.  Now I want to tell you how proud I am of you!  Our father died when you were a young teenager in high school.  I worried so about you growing up without him.  But you managed to grow up into a very good, devout, Catholic man—graduating from DeLaSalle and Southeastern University, marrying your sweetheart Gail and into that wonderful Sonnier family (I always thought Mr. Sonnier was the best substitute father you could have had), having two fabulous sons who have joined you in your business, and your many efforts on behalf of the American Cancer Society over the years.  How ironic you should contract a form of cancer!  And, so, my dearest brother, I shall never forget you, will always be so proud of you, and hope to join you one day in heaven.

To Gayle and the entire Messina family. I am so heartbroken to hear about Joe. As you may remember we in Gretna, La. used to call him "Moose". I gave him that name when we were teenagers because he played ball like a moose. Surprisingly the name stuck. He was the first friend I made when growing up. He lived on Weyer St. one block behind my house on Huey P. Long. We had great times together for years.He was two days older then me. Memories I will always cherish. He was always there to help out when needed and I for him. We will keep Joe in our prayers always. He is with our heavenly Father now. I know I haven't seen him in years but a friendship like ours never goes away. The world has lost a good man. I am so sorry. GOD bless.

Dear Joe or better known to me and my wife Sylvia...dear Moose...you will be missed dearly. I expect you're looking down now as I write to you. Sylvia and I frequently think back to all the good times we had with you and Gail...like the City Park picnic "rolling Sylvia down the levee"...and our many double dates... Ms  Gail and the entire Messina family,
I am so sorry for your loss  my  thoughts and prayers are with the family  in this time .  

Joe, Lorena and I were going to Shreveport for an overnight stay to visit a client. The last thing Gail told us was to watch the small town's that the speed changes often.  Well we were doing our favorite thing "talking" and yes we got a speeding ticket.
We looked at each other and said Gail is gonna be mad.
Joe said it was my fault I was supposed to be the look out person.
